Shoulder Pain Relief Provided By Chiropractic In Singapore

By Fernando Ketter

Shoulder problems (joint issues, pain, restricted movement) are easily one of the most common type of malady seen by chiropractors. It's been estimated that up to three-in-ten adults suffer with some kind of shoulder pain at any one time. With the help of a Singapore chiropractor sufferers can avoid potentially harmful pharmaceuticals and reduce their pain in a gentle, natural way.

One of the main benefits of the shoulder joint is also it's main weakness: flexibility. Its excellent range of motion has a downside in as much as the joint is less stable than other, less mobile joints. This inherent weakness combined with a sedentary lifestyle and poor postural habits can often lead to problems.

So-called frozen shoulder (or adhesive capsulitis to give it its medical name) stems from inflammation of the shoulder joint and is a common complaint for those seeking chiropractic care. Likewise, rotator cuff damage (issues with the shoulder muscles and tendons). Another common malady (known as impingement syndrome) arises when a tendon gets caught in the shoulder joint.

Although shoulder issues can be complex, with the right care, most patients can enjoy significant relief. The kind of techniques used by the chiropractor will vary depending on the needs of the patient. What all chiropractic care has common however is an emphasis on the root causes of a problem.

Manipulation techniques can be used for unlocking stiff joints and restoring natural movement. Tense muscles can be relaxed with ultrasound, massage, heat penetration and other therapies. When these fundamentals are attended to, pain relief can often be very significant.

The number of visits needed to alleviate shoulder pain will depend very much on the patient and his or her particular issue. For many patients, one to three visits will be enough. Some patients however have more complex problems and may require more sessions.
